Building Resilience: Filipinos in the Face of Climate Change


The Philippines faces immense challenges as one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change. Stronger typhoons, rising sea levels, and unpredictable weather patterns increasingly disrupt lives, destroy livelihoods, and threaten food and water security. These changes not only test the resilience of Filipinos but also demand urgent action.

The causes of these environmental shifts are both global and local. On a global scale, greenhouse gas emissions drive rising temperatures, leading to extreme weather events. Locally, deforestation, pollution, poor urban planning, and the destruction of natural ecosystems worsen the impacts, leaving communities more exposed to disasters.

Filipinos have always shown remarkable strength, coming together to recover and rebuild after calamities. However, resilience alone is not enough to ensure a safe and sustainable future. Proactive steps are needed to address these challenges and mitigate risks. Protecting forests, adopting sustainable practices, and transitioning to renewable energy sources can reduce environmental harm. Strengthening disaster preparedness, improving early warning systems, and promoting eco-friendly urban development can help protect vulnerable communities.

Climate change is a shared problem that requires collective action. Governments, organizations, and individuals must work together to protect the environment and build a more sustainable future. By combining resilience with proactive solutions, Filipinos can adapt to the challenges of climate change and create a safer, healthier, and more sustainable nation for generations to come.

Reflection on 2nd quarter

  During the second quarter, I have significantly expanded my understanding of coding and HTML formatting tags. I learned how to structure a webpage effectively using basic tags such as <html>, <head>, <body>, and <div>. I also discovered the importance of semantic tags like <header>, <footer>, and <article> in improving accessibility and readability. Additionally, I explored styling HTML with inline and external CSS and mastered the use of attributes, such as id and class, for better layout management. One major challenge was debugging errors when the page did not render as expected. Misplaced or forgotten closing tags, incorrect nesting of elements, and unfamiliarity with certain attributes caused frustration. Understanding how CSS interacts with HTML also posed difficulty, especially when dealing with complex layouts or conflicting styles.
