New Year, Same Me

Image
New Year, Same Me As the new year begins, many people aim to become someone completely different. But for me, it’s not about being a “new me.” I’m still the same person, just working on letting go of bad habits and negativity that hold me back. Bad habits, such as procrastination, overthinking, or wasting time, weigh us down. They don't define who we are, but they do stop us from reaching our full potential. Instead of trying to change overnight, I'm focusing on small, steady steps to improve. To let go of bad habits, I first need to understand them. Why do I hesitate? Why do I hold onto negative patterns? By figuring out the reasons, I can make real changes, not just quick fixes. This is not perfection. I am aware that I would commit mistakes, and that is just fine. It is about getting back up again and making improvements little by little. Letting go of bad habits will help me grow into the better version of myself—not by becoming someone new, but by uncovering who I alread...

My Christmas Vacation

Image
The Christmas vacation, from December 21 to January 1, is a special time of celebration, reflection, and renewal. It bridges the end of one year and the beginning of another, allowing us to slow down and focus on what truly matters. The days leading up to Christmas, from December 21 to 24, are filled with excitement and preparation. We bought decorations, buy gifts, and plan gatherings with my family. These moments remind me of the joy of giving and the effort we make to bring happiness to others. On Christmas Day, December 25, is the highlight of the season. We went to my cousin's house to celebrate Christmas and give gift to each other, and bond with our family. And ate some of the left over food from Christmas eve. The days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, from December 26 to 30, are quieter and more relaxed. This is the time that I took a rest, because I did a lot of work on Christmas, and most of the time, I played games with my friends.  The last days of vac...

Reflection on 2nd quarter

During the second quarter, I have significantly expanded my understanding of coding and HTML formatting tags. I learned how to structure a webpage effectively using basic tags such as <html>, <head>, <body>, and <div>. I also discovered the importance of semantic tags like <header>, <footer>, and <article> in improving accessibility and readability. Additionally, I explored styling HTML with inline and external CSS and mastered the use of attributes, such as id and class, for better layout management. One major challenge was debugging errors when the page did not render as expected. Misplaced or forgotten closing tags, incorrect nesting of elements, and unfamiliarity with certain attributes caused frustration. Understanding how CSS interacts with HTML also posed difficulty, especially when dealing with complex layouts or conflicting styles. To overcome these challenges, I relied on consistent practice and using developer tools like the br...

The Importance and Implications of RA 10364 and RA 11313 The Philippines has made significant strides in protecting human rights and dignity through progressive laws like RA 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2013) and RA 11313 (Safe Spaces Act of 2019). Both acts aim to create a safer society by addressing exploitation and harassment, ensuring that citizens, especially the vulnerable, are protected. RA 10364 expands the definition and scope of anti-trafficking measures, providing stronger safeguards against human trafficking. This law criminalizes acts like recruitment, transportation, and harboring of individuals for exploitation, including forced labor, sexual exploitation, or slavery. It also strengthens victim support services and increases penalties for offenders. For individuals, this act ensures safety from being exploited or abused, especially for those in marginalized communities. If this law is not followed, perpetrators face severe punishments, including lif...

Building Resilience: Filipinos in the Face of Climate Change The Philippines faces immense challenges as one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change. Stronger typhoons, rising sea levels, and unpredictable weather patterns increasingly disrupt lives, destroy livelihoods, and threaten food and water security. These changes not only test the resilience of Filipinos but also demand urgent action. The causes of these environmental shifts are both global and local. On a global scale, greenhouse gas emissions drive rising temperatures, leading to extreme weather events. Locally, deforestation, pollution, poor urban planning, and the destruction of natural ecosystems worsen the impacts, leaving communities more exposed to disasters. Filipinos have always shown remarkable strength, coming together to recover and rebuild after calamities. However, resilience alone is not enough to ensure a safe and sustainable future. Proactive steps are needed to address these challenges and mitigat...
